BattleKart, darts and plenty of competition
Things really got going at our Austrian colleagues’ latest team event. Eight colleagues, three sporting challenges and plenty of determination made for a varied evening in Vienna, where there was certainly no shortage of fun.
Full throttle at BattleKart
Our Team Austria got things underway at BattleKart. Here, traditional karting meets virtual gaming elements – and suddenly your own colleagues are no longer just fellow drivers, but, above all, opponents.
Whether it was mutual jostling, deliberate blocking or tactical pushing out: fair play was certainly interpreted in a creative way that evening. At times, riders were racing against one another; at others, they had to join forces. One thing became clear very quickly, though: nobody was giving anyone a free ride here.
And even though, of course, everyone wanted to finish as high up the rankings as possible, one thing was guaranteed above all else: plenty of laughter and plenty to talk about for the rest of the evening.
From the racetrack to the dartboard
After the fast-paced laps, we carried on to Millennium City. There, the next two challenges – darts and football bowling – were waiting for us.
The darts tournament began with a group stage, before the players moved on to a winners’ and losers’ bracket. In the end, Fabian proved to have the steadiest hand and secured victory in the tournament. Phillip came second, followed by Gabor in third place.
During the football bowling that followed, different skills were required. Tobias showed what he was made of and took first place. Phillip and Gabor once again rounded off the podium.
Particularly noteworthy: the four participants in the winning group were the same in both competitions. Some of our colleagues were clearly on a real roll that evening.
Second place three times – and yet still the loser of the evening?
According to Phillip himself, he managed to come second no fewer than three times. That’s actually quite an impressive record.
It was just a shame that, of all the rounds, it was the one where the person in last place had to buy a round of drinks that everything suddenly went wrong. He ended up in last place – and had to foot the bill.
The fact that he’d come second three times before? A minor detail. At least for his colleagues, who’ll probably remember this one defeat for quite some time to come. 😄
A successful evening for our Austrian team
After so much sporting enthusiasm, there was of course bound to be a more relaxed part to the evening. To round things off, we all went to a bar together, where the evening drew to a close over a few drinks and, no doubt, the odd discussion or two about the results.
In the end, it was exactly the right mix for a successful team evening: sharing an experience, challenging one another, and having a good laugh.
And the best bit: the very next morning, everyone was indeed back in the office, fit and ready to go. After all, that’s a team effort too. 💙💚
